A coating locks in whatever is underneath it. If the paint is contaminated or swirled when it goes on, that is what gets sealed in — and it stays sealed in for as long as the coating lasts. The wash, decontamination and correction that come first are not preliminaries; they are the part that determines the result.
What hydrophobic actually means.
Water on a coated panel pulls into beads rather than sheeting flat, and those beads carry loose dirt with them as they run off. The vehicle does not stay clean by itself, but it gets dirty more slowly, and it washes far more easily when it does.
Not a wax, and not permanent.
Wax sits on the surface and lasts weeks. A ceramic coating bonds and lasts considerably longer — but it is still a sacrificial layer that wears with washing, weather and UV. Anyone describing a coating as permanent, or as making paint scratch-proof, is selling something the chemistry does not do.

A wax is a topcoat measured in weeks. A sealant is the same idea, chemically, with more endurance. A ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat and lasts considerably longer than either. What it is not is permanent, and it is not scratch-proof — it is a sacrificial layer that wears with washing, weather and UV. Anyone telling you otherwise is describing something the chemistry does not do.

Coating needs a controlled, unhurried application and a clean surface at the moment it goes on. Doing it where the vehicle already lives removes the drive home through road spray that undoes the last hour of preparation.

How long does a ceramic coating last?
Considerably longer than wax, but it is still a sacrificial layer that wears with washing, weather and UV. Longevity depends heavily on how the vehicle is washed and stored afterwards, which is why we go through aftercare before leaving.
Does it stop scratches and stone chips?
No. A coating is chemical protection, not physical armour. For stone chips and road debris the right product is paint protection film, which is a physical barrier.
Does my paint need correcting first?
If there are visible swirl marks or scratches, yes — otherwise the coating seals them in for its entire life. We assess the paint with you before starting and tell you what we find.
Can you apply it at my home?
Yes. The application is done at your address, which avoids the drive home through road spray that would otherwise land on a freshly coated surface.
How do I wash it afterwards?
By hand, with a pH-neutral shampoo, and not in an automatic tunnel. We go through this in detail at handover because washing technique is the single biggest factor in how long a coating lasts.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the vehicle, its condition and your city. The exact total is shown and agreed in the booking flow before anything is confirmed.
Is a coating worth it on an older car?
It depends on the paint, not the age. A ten-year-old car with sound clear coat takes a coating well and benefits from the easier washing. Paint that is already failing — clear coat peeling or crazing — will not be rescued by a coating, and putting one over it is money spent sealing in a problem.
Can a coating be removed later?
Not by washing, which is rather the point. It wears down over time, and it can be machine-polished off, but that means removing a small amount of clear coat again. It is worth deciding deliberately rather than treating it as reversible.

We look at the paint with you first. If correction is needed before coating, we say so — coating swirled paint locks the swirls in.

Panels are prepared and the coating applied by hand, one panel at a time, levelling as we go.

- Give it the cure timeThe first days matter most. What to avoid and for how long is explained at handover — rain, washing and parking under sap-dropping trees all have different answers during cure than after it.
- pH-neutral shampoo onlyAggressive detergents and traffic-film removers strip a coating faster than anything else. A plain pH-neutral car shampoo is all a coated vehicle needs, because the coating is doing the work that harsh chemistry used to do.
- Never an automatic tunnelThe brushes will mark a coating exactly as they mark paint, and once the coating surface is scratched the water behaviour goes with it.
- Do not let contaminants sitBird droppings, sap and bug residue are acidic and will etch through a coating if left in the sun. The coating buys you time to deal with them — it does not make them harmless.
